SHoP Project Portal

SHoP needed a way for architects, fabricators, and clients to actually meet inside the same picture of a project. The Project Portal was that surface, with 3D in the middle of it.

Problem

A working architecture practice generates a constant stream of drawings, models, fabrication files, schedules, and client communications. Most of that information lives in tools that don’t talk to each other and don’t share spatial context. SHoP wanted a portal that gave the firm and its collaborators a single place to navigate a project, with 3D as the connective tissue rather than a presentation layer.

Approach

Contributed as a 3D developer and designer on the firm’s internal Project Portal. Worked across the spatial views and the 3D layer of the portal experience, integrating the firm’s design and fabrication models into the shared surface that architects, fabricators, and clients moved through. Sat between design and engineering, translating between architectural intent and what the portal needed to actually render.

Outcome

  • Portal surface integrating 3D views into the firm’s project workflow
  • Connective layer used by architects, fabricators, and clients as a shared reference
  • Pattern of treating 3D as an everyday view, not a presentation moment
